• Description: Trippet's is one of those rare places that's so good you can't believe your luck when you find it! In a side street close to the city centre, this intimate wine bar provides excellent food and wine in a simple setting. There are two rooms, one of which is furnished with wide wooden tables and is used for eating and drinking, while the back room (which is more sparsely furnished) is mainly for music and dancing. The bar has a late license until 1 am and live music - mainly rhythm and blues - plays on Friday and Saturday nights. Food is excellent value: the menu is comprehensive, including staples like bangers and mash or more unusual options such as pork fillet dijonaise with asparagus from about £5.50. House wines start at around £7 a bottle. Trippet's is popular with professionals of all ages at lunchtimes and in the early evenings; later on, it is mainly frequented by a relatively young (late 20s upwards), rather arty crowd.
